Factory hood lock

Did they make a factory hood lock that is located inside for 1972 as a option? It is lever type not pull type.

Yes, it's called RPO T44. And lucky you - it's a reproduced part from almost all the Olds vendors.

Like what Joe posted. Differences are the hood lock from OEM was phosphate coated, and the cable was 2 piece instead of one long unit. One thing I'm not 100% sure of is whether the hood release rod on the front of the car is the same for T44. For some reason (nagging at the back of my limited gray cells) I was under the impression the rod was a different length.

My parts book shows the regular hood release rod as (Group 8.080) 404927. But it also says "Except T44 option". And looking as far as my eyes can squint I simply can't find any different information on the T44 release rod.

Anyone who has better information can chime in and direct the OP to a solution.
EDIT: Just noticed the cable cover on the right side of the reproduction is missing. So not exactly like the OEM one. That would be hidden underneath in the rad support so I guess it's not really significant.

From what Ive seen in the past if we are being precise, The 70 hood lock had a one pc cable and the 71-72 was a two pc cable. That’s all I think I know?
