OK, that's a little strong, and WAC is a great repository of information, but the Quad4 article that just came out this morning includes the following photo and caption:

Uh, sorry, but that's the INTAKE MANIFOLD!!! The Q4 exhaust ports are on the firewall side of the motor. Also, far from "all Quad4s" used this manifold, as many (including the W-41s) got a cast aluminum intake.

The caption under the picture I'm looking at says,
"All Quad 4s, even this standard version, sported an aluminum tubing intake manifold" don't see anything wrong with that...... This isn't ROP, lighten up a bit.........
So it's been changed since I posted originally. It said EXHAUST HEADER this morning.
From he newsletter this am....

And it was a hot rod - with 4 into one exhaust headers and a very free flowing intake. Delivering 180 PHP from 2.3 Liters (consider, it would have produced over 350 HP in 5.0 L V8 form which was considered), the engine produced very lively performance in from the day it was produced until production ceased in 2002. An Olds only W-41 version generated 190 HP for the Olds Acheva SCX.
The Quad 4 also powered the Olds record-breaking"

25 Years Ago Oldsmobile introduced the Quad 4 - a superbly modern DOHC 4 cylinder. With direct port injection, computer controls for timing and fuel delivery, it precursored all the things we take for granted in 21st Century auto engine. But it was a very radical approach at the time, and it was so good - it appeared in all of GM's cars except for Cadillac. And it was a hot rod - with 4 into one exhaust headers and a very free flowing intake. The Tech section is compiled (aka secondary) information, and as such is subject to error. But since the information on the site is not static, corrections, additions, and improvements can be made to the information there. So as time goes on, the information can, and often does improve.
Constructive criticism especially in the form of correcting information is always welcomed.
Even the cast intake is "tubular", Joe. You can pick it to death if want to.
Sorry, Kurt, it may be "totally tubular", but is isn't tubular. Tubing is thinwall and usually welded into an assembly. Look at the header, er intake in the lower photo. I don't think anyone would argue that those are tubes. The cast intake in the upper photo (and the one on my Q4) are definitely not made of tubes. By your definition, ANY intake manifold is "tubular".
