I also have a FB page for my site if anyone is interested. Try to keep all the content tame and Olds related.

Never started one, pretty much for the same reason. Also, I really don't give a sh.. what the girl I sat next to in 9th grade English class is having for breakfast today, even if she's still hot (probably not).

Life is for learning and moving forward, not for obsessively collecting lists of your old acquaintances and playing kissy-face with your computer all night.

All righty then.
I have had no such issues with Facebook, I just set my privacy settings and only get what I like.
I hear what some of you are sayin , years ago when I first got on FB , it was just so dumb I ended up closing it for a few years , then I give it another try and set the privacy to my preference and no more stupid crap.

Ha ha. Exactly. The LAST thing I want to do is run into someone I barely knew and didn't particularly like thirty or more years ago, or even worse, someone I did like, who has no idea who I am or does because s/he hated me.

Most of my friends are people I see everyday or are family. They rest are car people I know personally. I find a ton of car info thru facebook, like this ultra rare photo someone posted on the H/O board.

If you think facebook is all about friending people from your past then you really dont know a thing about facebook.

A lot of what is on facebook is of no interest to me.
But the same could be said about some of the content of this forum, although to a much lesser extent.
So if something catches my eye I'll have a closer look, but mostly I'll pass by.
Roger.

I started an account there and only posted a couple times. I got the impression that people don't talk to one another, there. Instead, they talk at each other and what you post is probably read a couple times. Then, just disappears in some backlog. I guess, it's mainly for those who text idly just to kill time

I work in IT. I know how security works ... I had lists, groups, and filters ... the stupid still got through. Finally idled that acc't and started another with just those unfiltered invited to it .... still, the stupid seeped in. The problem is Facebook causes people to remove their personal filters ... you end up in conversations that never would have included you in the real world. If it was happening at a water cooler, they'd stop the conversation the moment someone approached ... but on Facebook, they don't see you standing there.

There s all that there and more. I have a Facebook acct and check it at least once a day. Good way to keep up with old friends and family. I have to wade through everyone's political post of the day. Who cares about that s$@t. Now how are you guys using it for cars?....

If anyone is on Facebook?!?! Is the Pope Catholic? Do bears cr@p in the woods?
I looked it up, and as of the end of 2013, there were more than 1.2 BILLION users of Facebook worldwide, or more than 1/7th of humanity, and I'm guessing that more than a few of them are also members of this site, all of the huffing and puffing above notwithstanding.
