Exhaust hoods

Anyone know much about these ? What year and where do they mount? Picked up 2 pretty good price just because thought they looked good. Supposed to keep exhaust from getting in the cabin ??

They just hose clamp or get tack welded to the end of the tailpipe. If you can show the other end of them it would help to determine a route to take.

We have a bunch of street rods around here, they are quite common.

My Dad had a plain one on a '55 Olds 88, back in the 50's.

Worth $20 each ? Worth it to me even if I hang them in the garage, there in unused condition. Won't fit over trumpets I'm guessing

I would think they are worth $20 ea. They really belong on cars of the 1950's and older.

They are just shiny aftermarket exhaust tips. Sorry, but I put them in the same category as coffee can tips on ricers. If you like them, use them. Personally I'd pay $20 to have someone remove it from my car.

With the Olds logo on them I think they were an official Olds accessory. I don't know the exact years Olds used that logo but it has been a long time. They belong on a 40's or 50's Olds. They probably served more to deflect the exhaust from the bumper. It was common for the bumper guards to rust out since they were above the tailpipe. I would be interested in them if you decide to part with them.

Olds resurrected that logo in the 1980s, as seen on my two 1985 Deltas. Sorry, these are NOT "official" Olds parts, just aftermarket, and not vintage in any case. You can buy them with any marque emblem on them you want - Ford, Chevy, etc.
