Cool engine swaps.

New project in the works. Need some advice.
Of the 303/394 series engines, what is the latest / largest that will bolt in to a 50 Olds coupe without frame adapters?? Trying to get by with just swapping stock parts if possible... Lots of nostalgia in this project.
I also want to use the early GM 4spd hydro, so I will sacrifice some engine size if this tranny bolts up, since it will be for cruising, not racing........

Tks for any help..

DAN

303, 324, 371, 371, and 394 engines will bolt in using '49 - '50 mounts.

I do not do trannys but '49 - '56 (not '56 Jetaway) Hydro will bolt up if the bell housing and flywheel for the trans is used. Flywheel must be transfer balanced using the '371 - '394 (externally balanced) unit.

Drive shaft should be the same length, but the yoke will need to be changed to fit a newer trans.

Left exhaust manifold exit flange was too close to the steering box, so I adapted SBC headers.

Google ' 1956 Oldsmobile '. The 5th selection down, titled '1956 Oldsmobile' is a detailed explanation of a 394 swap into a 56 Olds, using the early trans. I think a lot of the steps will be the same when installing the later motor in the 50 Olds.
