Paint is: Engine paint Cast Aluminum, baked them in an oven.

That is the A/C compressor. My car was a non-A/C car. The circa 1970 aftermarket A/C system is what you see in the picture. It is a York compressor. And yes it is heavy.

Thanks. Shouldn't you be in your garage putting your engine back together. You don't have time to be replying to threads.

Wow, you had to go there. Maybe if I painted it pink, you would be okay with it.

Here's mine. Tried to make it look like if Olds had build it, stock style valve covers, steel fuel lines and the standard GM performance air cleaner, thinking about getting rid of the pink air filter.

Well, maybe you installed mine. It was a Montana car all of its life before I got it and you are not too far away (assuming you are living in the same area). It still works to this day, so I am pretty happy with it. I can't imagine installing those things every day.

They system is very awkward with the various brackets and pulleys. I actually had a friend of mine take a plasma cutter to the plate steel that mounts to the block. Took off a little bit of weight and we cut out sections in order to get at the fuel pump better, etc.

The pulley system does make it hard when trying to align the belts. The belts on mine are not perfect but as good as I can get them.

I've always wanted air conditioning in a car.

Then i realized that i ALWAYS drive with the windows down. So for me it's kinda pointless.

The engine compartment looks better now that the power brake booster is out of there and the new brake lines are installed with the line lock. But, here you go...

This is the first of my 425 engines that quit on me.

... And this is the second 425 engine that quit on me.

Hmmmm... I didn't know they made that color. I'd actually consider that for the current, "throwaway" engine.
I wouldn't paint a "real" Olds engine any color other than gold or red, though (maybe blue, but I like the '68 red better).

I'm happy you caught my attempt at satire at 11pm last night.

Honestly, you have a big '73 model, it "could" look pretty cool

Do you do car shows in Maine? I hear there are some cool ones out towards the east coast in late august.

I haven't yet.
I tend to be either at work, or working on some project when these things happen, so often I can't get to them, but I do keep my eyes open for when they're going to be.

I might try to head down to at least one down towards the coastal region this august with my Olds. Might try to get in some time down at the water at the same time for a long weekend.

You'll have to let us know if you get any local news on car shows that we won't here up in the northern parts.

Guys. It has hit me my car needs some frame work. So you guessed it the body is coming off the frame. Its gonna get boxed and the rust areas addressed and re inforced. My engine will be built and done before this project goes underway but., its also getting treated to new paint. My body work is done so it won't be too bad. Just frame and I'm setting up my suspension for drag racing. Nothing crazy just the common stuff. This will be my fall/ winter project. Maybe sooner. This is just what I need to get me motivated about my car again. Its been 4 years since I got it done but now it's time to make it perfect. Hopefully it won't take too long.
