Is there a proper oreintation for these decals?

1971 cutlass

I've looked at lots of pics and see different placements for each.

On the engine id,I've never had a car with the original decal in place.
On the air cleaner,I have 3 air cleaners.2 of the air cleaners have the decal in the front middle,1 has the decal toward the driver side front.

Well, my '71 Supreme has it towards the drivers side. I went through several books with vintage underhood shots, and most were towards the drivers side, with a couple right in front at the center. The O.A.I was pictured in the center.

 

The oil tube sticker/decal/label goes a little above the serial numbers on the tube. From all I've seen the regular air cleaner sticker is supposed to be in the center. I've seen them from the center to a little off to the driver side too, probably depended on who stuck it on, lucky if they're even straight.
Sandy's car is all original and it's dead center on her 4 barrel cleaner, in old pics my 2 barrel cleaner label was a little off to the driver side but not sure if it was because the air cleaner was rotated. I put it in the center, cruise servo blocks the view off to the car's left.
Attached the Olds label placement instructions from Dr.Decal and he's pretty accurate, shows center front too but I think anywhere from the center to off to the left would be correct.

When I replaced mine with another one (the original was wrinkled) I made sure to put it in the same place as the one I took off. It's slightly off center towards the driver's side. If you want a tip that's worked well for me......I stick the decal face down on a laminating sheet and cut around it, making sure to round the corners. I've done this for the engine decal and the trunk decals also. It prevents them from absorbing moisture and wrinkling up, plus they fade a lot slower.

Neat idea. Doesn't the laminating film go yellow pretty quick with the heat from the engine compartment?

 

Apparently it doesnt. I've had the engine decal on for 8 years now, and it's still as white as when I put it on. I replaced the air cleaner decal 3 years ago, but only because it began to lift. Not because of failure of the laminate, but because the sticker's original glue had peeled. I wouldn't try the repositionable laminating sheets though. Only the permanent ones.
