Since I am going to do this within the next couple of weeks, I had the following observations/inquery based on the picture:

Was the radiator installed (I think it is but was just making sure)?

Any issues with having the alternator and power steering pump installed on motor prior to install?

Why did you not install the valve covers?

Was it necessary to remove the front bumper in order to use the engine hoist? (vs. just moving the extension out to the 1/2 ton mark)

At any rate, nice looking motor and car.

engine install

Yes, the radiator was in already. No clearance issues, so I didnt bother removing it allthough it wouldnt hurt, just incase. I had no issues at all with the alternator and power steering already mounted. I did everything on the engine stand except the starter and carburator, The starter is on in the pic but I ended up removing it to clear the headers. I left the valve covers off because I gave them a paint job and I didnt want them to get dinged up by the lift chain, just incase. If you care about your bumper, I suggest removing it or putting foam in between the hoist and bumper. It will rub up on it. I don't like going past the 1/2 ton mark, it makes me nervous cause I've seen a cherry picker bend before. Its not totally necessary, but its my preferance. let me know if you have any other questions I'm glad to help. Eric

Personally, I prefer the radiator out.

It's so easy to remove, and there are so many ways you can screw it up if you leave it in.

when i did mine I unhooked the wire's from the fire wall block so I could paint. I hooked them back up to the starter and installed them while out of the car was so nice to do in free air. I used cast iron manifolds . Looks like a nice project when your done, feels good don't it.
