As far as width and spacing, I can only go by what I found on my 72 Cutlass S. It has a different set of color bands because it's a 350 and different model year. From what I've been told, the color bands were used to easily identify what drive shaft to put in a car at a glance, like the ident used for the front sway bars for different lines. I used the 'ghost outlines' I found on my car to duplicate the widths and placement as best I could. It's on the car now but here's what it turned out like. BTW you might remember this because you also were concerned that I kept the original Saginaw U-joints.

Anytime Charlie, hope it helps. BTW is your car MT or AT? Curious if I guessed right. When I cleaned my driveshaft (carefully) I never did find a part number stamping on it anywhere. Please post a pic when you're done!
