Gee, a fully restored 76 Delta Royale vert with 455 and all new brakes, carpet and air pump must be worth at least 85,000 then.... B body cars are only worth what someone will pay for them. Now if it was Jay Leno's 66 Toro.....different story.

Good point Glenn, maybe it was a typo and he meant it could be worth up to 7000 fully restored. That's about all they get for them at BJ too. Not as popular and rare as he makes it out to be.
Then again maybe he was partying with Toronto Mayor Rob Ford too long.

With all due respect, Allan, anything is only worth what someone will pay, but I take your point. Like I told my boss at work, who's a year or so younger than me and contemplating a project car: "Joe, it takes the same amount of money to restore a GTO or 442 as it does a Le Mans or Cutlass, and the muscle car is worth what you put in at the end, not so much with the normal version."

You're right of course. I just think the concept of anyone restoring a 76 Bonneville is far fetched. It's got to be for the love of the car IMO because there's just no market for those things that I've seen. And I've seen peeps with the boats asking huge money for them (huge is around 14-20K BTW) and they're just not selling.
Redog - naw, the standard engine for the 76 Bonneville was a 400 CID rated at 160 hp. The option was a 455 rated at 250 hp.

I have a 75 Pontiac Grandville Convertible with 80k miles and factory 455. It runs but needs restored. I thought about keeping it and fixing it up a bit for a summer cruiser but I told a few people that seemed interested in it that I would sell it. None of them wanted to give anything for it though and one guy offered me $1500 for the complete motor trans since it was a running low-mileage drop in 455/400 for another car. These big cars just are not that popular regardless of their condition or mileage or how well they are equipped. I will probably try to sell it in the spring but at the 4K asking price I have been asking, it will probably just sit and probably never be worth more than 20k if completely restored!

I see all kinds of crazy s**t like that on craigslist near me also. I lived (sorta still do) in NC a little south of Raleigh, use Raleigh.Craigslist and its one of the most popular craigslist's in the US, therefore, tons of people use it, and everything is overpriced. Its just plain stupid. There was a guy with a 1962 Chevy Impala 402 in really bad shape, needed full resto, body work, didn't run in 20 years ect the whole deal. He wanted $75,000!!!!!!!!! and I quote "One sold at auction for $120,000, You can spend another $30,000 to restore it and make $20,000!). Sure buddy. I told him it was way overpriced and sent him links to two mint condition 1962 402 convertibles for sale, one for $55,000, all stock like a showroom model perfect 10/10, and a restomod with 4 wheel discs, LS1, 18 inch wheels, ect for $72,000 and he STILL felt his price was justified. I also found no proof of his claim that one sold for $120,000 at auction.....
Theres also an old 69 Chevelle SS 396 thats been sitting outside for years, has no glass on it hasn't ran in god knows how long interior is toast, needs full resto. he was asking $20,000. Then he wanted $17,500, and now hes down to $15,000. We'll see where that goes.
You wouldn't believe half of the overpriced heaps that show up on CL around here, including a lot of "donks". Disgusting

I had a 68 98 convertible that was in an estate I am the executor of. I consigned it to a classic car dealer last year. I was hoping I could get 12 grand for it. It was a very nice car with only 65,000 miles on it. It was dark green and had had one decent repaint on it. It sold the first weekend they had it for $16,500. I was shocked. They guy that bought it had plenty of money and his Mom had an Olds 98 (not a convertible) when he was a kid. They never even advertised the car. It was pure luck I think. But, it was one of those cars that the top went down on which helps.

Look, heres another one. a 72 Gran Torino in need of a full resto, doesn't even have the front and rear glass installed, he wants $7500. Thats reduced from $8500. What a nutcase. You can buy a decent daily driver one of these with good paint for $5000. Not only that, but I almost bought a 72 gran torino with no rust that needed a gas tank and tires to be a daily driver for $2500. God people are stupid. They make our hobby that much harder.

I see this type of thing quite a bit too. Here is one I came across just tonight. This one is a nice car but the price is crazy.

A couple of months ago I got to look at a 1968 Baracuda that had been in storage since the 80's. car was a basic car 318 auto. Average condition with rust in the quarters and had about 70k miles. It was an original owner car and he brought his grandson who was about 10 years old to see it. He kept telling his Grandson how rare and valuable it was and that these cars were sellin in excess of 50 k.

That's a really nice looking Cutlass in the Minneapolis ad. Now stick with me for a moment. Because I'm curious who may respond to these ads. Maybe I'll post a CL ad for my pride and joy and throw a $92,382 price on it (negotiable) just to see who responds. Hmmmmmm. Oh and oldcutlass, the answer to your heading is NO.

I would love to see what a $70,000 Bonneville looks like. Too bad the pricing of the cars rarely goes the other way. Be nice to see some ads like: "1970 W-30, 4-speed, all original, $12,995"
I think I might sell my pops Grand Prix. 1972, 400, 23k original miles. I think I'll start the bid at $120,000. I think he would be so proud if I did that. haha
