Divorced Chokes
I have a 1967 Toronado. Will the divorced choke thermostat from a 1966 or 1968 Toro work? The 1966 looks similar, but the 1968 is different - hangs down lower than the 1966.
Does anyone have a 1967 Divorced Choke Thermostat for sale, or know where I can buy one?

They have some springs, but nothing for a Rochester Quadrajet 4MV 7027131 carburetor.
I have a DC from a 1966 and 1968 Toro. Do you know if those will work on the 1967?
What I really need is the entire assembly for my 1967 Olds Toronado.

The 66 choke looks the same as the 67 I believe. I have a 67, and found a parts car which I took the choke off. I believe it’s a 66, and it works great. They don’t specifically have springs for the Toronado, but I am sure you can make one work. You just need one that moves about the same distance as the original. Then you have to take apart the housing and put the spring back in there. Anything would work. You just want the spring to keep the choke plate closed when the engine is cold, and then as it heats up, it should open the plate. Its just a spring with a little lever that moves another lever. When the spring is cold, it unwinds. When it heats up, it winds up, and the tip moves a bit. Not a lot, maybe an inch or so. I had one in the oven to see what it does.
If you get a spring where the tip moves more than it should, I cannot see a problem. It is just going to push against the open flap. The problem would be a spring that does not open enough, then you will run rich. So when the car is cold, you want the choke flap to be only very slightly open. When the engine is warm, you want the flap to be vertical.

You want the choke spring to snap the choke shut 100% closed. The vacuum operated choke pulloff unit will then open it the exact right amount when the engine starts. The exact choke opening provided by the pulloff will be adjusted as part of the rebuild and tuning.
Then the choke spring must allow the choke to open as the engine attains operating temperature of course.
For these coils, 66=67
though Toro may not = non-Toronado
but I think THAT difference is mainly the length of the actuating rod.
I have dozens of these so finding one should be no problem.
Just sold a 68-9 unit to a gjy in CA to fix his cold start issues...
