distributor change
hey guys I am thinking about changing to an HEI dist. Any thoughts on brand or etc. I have heard or read that some of the hei will not let the oai fit. I have mostly stock 1970 442 non number matching. shoes w30 but no paper work. Some parts are w30 but motor is period correct with G heads.
car has been restored. I am just trying to make run better maybe better gas mileage. I just purchased a new chassis service manual. I was surprised at the size. Looks like it covers about everything.

Changing to an HEI is not going to improve anything much other than not having to mess with your points. You can alway use your existing distributor and install a pertronics points replacement kit.

I have always been very satisfied with my Pertronix conversions. There are two or three different levels. I just used the basic one with the Pertronix coil in my 54. Personally I think it is a great improvement. It provides quicker starting and no points to fool with but no noticeable power increase.
