That's cool. I've done a similar display. But my observation is that few people do more than glance at it.
I would guess that, while most everyone would recognize the right three documents, far fewer would know that the far left item is a build sheet nor know what its significance is. One other thing I do is put a little caption above each item explaining what it is. I might spend a few more words on the build sheet as that would likely require a little more explanation. It could also explain why that one is torn with a portion missing. Yes, most car show attendees know what a build sheet is, but there's lots of wives and girlfriends who don't.

my old work place was a sixties throw back with a lot of old equipment. One day when they were cleaning out an area and had the old equipment in the hall way i snapped a couple pics and used the sepia filter to make them look like old timey photos.
I passed the pics around to my coworkers speculating about the time and location the pics were taken, almost every one bought it, except one old guy who said those arent old pics they used to have ashtrays on the wall ...busted !!!!
point is take some pics of your car in front of something old timey like a gas station or something and print it out w a sepia or similar filter!!!
I have a folder with old ads, all of the receipts for the work I've done, etc. I put it on the engine sometimes at a car show. No display board though. Your board is pretty cool!
It's for different shows. I had a couple GM ads for mine, but it kept blowing over. An outside, cruise in show, no, but for an inside concours style, I think it would be expected. I may bring a binder with stuff to show to interested parties upon request.
I have a album that is on a wooden TV table with pictures of the build ,each series has a short explanation of what is going on on the opposite side. Helps some people know what you went through to get the car where it is now. Others just herd the kids down the isle towards the hot dog stand...Tedd
No display board, tiger tail, look but don't touch sign, replica model car, or stupid miniature leaning child figures.
If I do show the cars, rarely do, (prefer cruise in's) I just open the hood and trunk walk away, and let the car do the talking.
Sometimes in the trunk Ill place a photo album showing the car before during after restoration and the factory literature you would have found at the dealer. This just in case someone curious about the before/afters.
I find most people won't look at any of this just... the car (preferred).
OP your display is tasteful and well done.
That would be hanging in my garage or man cave.
At judged shows I put a copy of my build sheet in one rear window, a repro window sticker in the other rear window, and my owners manual on the driver's seat. My display board contains two 1967 Old's 442 advertisement signs, and one of my current license plates whose alpha/numeric call letters identify the car. The ad signs do a great job of describing all the features of the car and draw quite a bit of attention.
P.S., the license plate is in no way a political statement. I am a history buff and when Missouri offered a Gadsden Flag design I jumped on it because I always loved that flag from an American history perspective. When I was also able to get the call letters I wanted, it was more than I could resist.
l like the display boards kinda of a yesteryear FAQ. Or quickstart guide if you will.
i dont have one, i do look at them to learn a little about the car, i also look thru the photo albums that people will sometimes put out, its intersting to see what work people have done to their cars.
[QUOTE=RetroRanger;1326355]Thats a nice plate dream67.

RetroRanger - Thanks for the compliment on the plate. I agree with you about liking boards describing "yesteryear FAQ's" about the car. My car is 95% stock, so that's why I decided to go with the Old's ad signs, rather than creating my own FAQ plaque. The Old's ads cover all the key components and features of what made a 4-4-2 a 4-4-2 in 1967.
Me either. If they don’t know a 1968 442 then...they don’t know a 1968 442.
lol every cutlass is a 442, w the fourfortytwo engine and the w stripes, to many people . I kid but i think most dont know a 442 from a supreme. Thats fine i think in the case of the 68 if one was inclined to have an info board it would point out some 68 ish only features like the w36 stripe, or under bumper OAI, or that the bbo of that year was in fact 400 ci not 442 or 455, or the bent oil fill tube....that kind of stuff.
I use these to show the history of my Dunesmobile.
56dunesmobile - I read the "Dunesmobile" thread, it was very interesting. Those are some really nice articles and pics you have to tell the Dunesmobile story. Well worth putting on display when showing your car. Who'd of ever thunk of an Oldsmobile as a dunebuggy!
Or, in the case of a 67, that actually it is a Supreme with the 4-4-2 option. . . LoL
haha see i didnt know that! Im always thinking in 70- 72 where the supreme is a different body style, i do know earlier years supreme was more of an option w same body style.
