Detailed My Delta!
Spent Saturday detailing my car. The previous owner had the car repainted the factory color about 12 years ago... it was getting pretty oxidized and had quite as few chips and scratches. I ordered some touch-up paint, using the factory code, from a local auto body supply store. Last weekend I touched-up all the chips and scratches using some little disposable chip brushes they sell in a tube of 40 for $10... they worked great, much better than the big brush that comes in the touch-up bottle. When I put the paint on it looked like the wrong color, almost pinkish, but luckily after it dried it was a near perfect match.Yesterday I wet-sanded all the touch-up's with #2000 paper wrapped around a wine bottle cork (worked great!). The I rubbed out the paint by hand with Meguiars medium cut compound/cleaner... machine polished with Meguiars ColorX polish... and hand-waxed with Meguiars Carnaubu wax. It really brought the paint back to life! The Meguiars products are a little pricey, but they really worked well. It was a lot of work (my arms are really sore today, lol)... but worth the effort and expense... the car really looks great! (and my wife, Krissy, ain't looking too shabby either!)

I was amazed how nice the paint came out... smooth as glass. There's quite a few chips and scratches that I touched-up that don't show up in the pic... but they don't show up from 2-3 feet away, either... you have to get right up on it to see them. Works for me!
