There was also a write up of this (and the other two that were built for the movie, as stated above) in I believe it was Muscle Car Review back when the movie came out. I still have that issue buried somewhere in my mountain of old car magazines.
I will have to ask him, however I don't believe it was. It's been quite some time since he owned it.
I remember him telling me that it was a numbers matching car, and they bought 2 more. They may have put a chevrolet engine in it for filming(?).
He has owned several W-Cars, Stage 1's, and RA Pontiacs, as well as a whole host of Mopars.

It really bums me to read these writeups full of extra adjectives and mis-statements (lies?). All written by sleazy sales people. As an example,
"To help it really shine in its movie role, GM added some modifications not available to the public, making this ride unique." Translation, "this car isn't original".

Sounds very simple but check that VIN.
I remember an article that said there were two or three cars and at least one was destroyed making the movie. I haven't come across that article yet, but I did find this from 2011, VIN 344870M209095 with basically the same BS description: https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Even...-HARDTOP-96650
You get it. Kind of like the Rockford Files Firebird that recently sold. How many cars did they beat the crap out of?? Oh but wait look here is The original car. Go blow that smoke somewhere else. Scams are All day Everyday.
Some FOOL wants to go spend Blow J (Err I mean BJ) money on a car that is nowhere near an original W car ? Go do it. The collector market has become such a joke. I feel for people with authentic cars. Fools don't care anymore about authenticity. Fools just like to say look how much I spent.
How many examples have we seen here? How many fake cars get defended here? Makes me sick.

Found it!! I was incorrect, it was B.O.P. monthly, not MCR. This was the February 1994 issue, car was featured on the cover:
According to the article, there were three 442's and all varied greatly in condition. Prepared by a company in Michigan called Vehicle Research and Development, near Romeo. First one being very nice, second was a driver and third being a total mess. #1 reportedly being a real W30 car, with a 455. Other two had 350's, however NO mention of them being Chevy engines. All three motors were either rebuilt or replaced and " none were modified for the movie." All cars were repainted to match and interiors replaced. Supposedly all done in 17 days.
Apparently all three survived, and went on the car show circuit back in 1994.

So that is why I could not find it in JWO. I was thinking that was were it was and was looking for over an hour for the issue. Now I need to find my copy of BOP...
EDIT... I did read someplace that it was Chevy engines in at least two of them. I wonder what publication it was.

Reading it closer I am understanding. The W-30 got the 350 from the Cutlass S. One of the other cars had the correct 455 but was not the W-30. After seeing this compared to the listing, Whoever buys it had best just want it for the fact it is a movie car....
But it's not. Zero proof that it is real. Well spent money right? Numbers matching my a"". Got that money because it was bought by a movie car fan. Not an Oldsmobile fan that cares about truth.
