Deep blue color help

Hello!

I am trying to pick a deep blue metallic color for my 71 olds and found this

https://youtu.be/OxDwdONcsi8

I think that color is amazing and would like to know if any of you can suggest similar colors? The closest match I have found is porsche gentian blue metallic

I also asked the video owner but did not get a response

Thank you for help!

You might want to take a look at Olds Viking Blue. It was a new color for 1971 and is maybe a shade lighter and less purple than your example, but it really pops and has the added benefit of being a correct Olds color.

If you want to keep your Oldsmobile OE. You can get paint mixed by the OE color chips linked above.

I think GM was in another league as far as their A-body colors go in the late '60's, early '70's. I would second the motion above to consider Viking blue. Every picture I've seen has looked great. '69 had Trophy blue which, in my opinion, was beautiful. Not sure what name the '70 dark blue was but it was also great. One of the guys on here restored a '70 W-31 a couple of years ago and that car was stunning.

One of the nicest darker blues ever put on a car is the 1970 Cutlass code 28, Twilight blue. It is outstanding. The darker blue in 71 was Monarch blue, code 29, a 88, 98 Tornado colour. It was optional on a Cutlass. It has a little violet in it, to richen it. Those two would be my choice and are Oldsmobile colours.

All 3 mentioned colors are variants of Midnight Blue, for my money the most beautiful car color there is.

I believe one of Fred's cars is Twilight Blue. I rode in it last year, looked good in the desert sun.

When I was a young man a good 30 years ago I always said if I change my 67s original Tahoe Turquoise color it would be to midnight blue, and I would get a vanity plate that said Midnight. I was not aware of Olds code Twilight Blue for it at the time. It was the dream color choice, gorgeous indeed. Years later I would own a 79 Eldo that was midnight blue.

Here is 1980 Cadillac Twilight Blue in the flesh, so to speak.

6th option across top, from left to right.

www.Survivor-Cars.com's perfect description. "The Dark Blue Metallic paint dances in the sun"

Hi Koda,
Are you sure you're referring to the same Fred? Fred 442? He lives in Arizona? It was my understanding Fred takes public transportation... Lol 😂 😊

I don't think he's sold them all. We rode in his '71 which is a medium Olds blue and very nice. I was looking around and he asked me what I was looking for and I said "an option this car doesn't have." It's a very nice car and I understand why he keeps that one.
