A debt of gratitude to Joffroi

a bit ago Joffroi made www.oldspower.com an offer to help get us back on our feet.

You mentioned you are working on getting the old stuff working first and don't want to pay vbulliten before trying. If it will help, I would be more then happy to install a fresh vbulliten on one of my sites and give you access to see if you can get your old databases and files working again. Once you get everything sorted out, you can just export the files and transfer everything back to your stuff. I'm pretty big into all this web stuff so let me know if I can help with anything.
He delivered. Helped out a complete stranger, and put up with all my questions and emails.

I cannot thank him enough, so I figured I'd make it public.

from Mike, and I and the members of OP, THANK YOU JOFFROI!!

John

Thanks, Joffroi!

We all have different things to offer, and your expertise and generosity really helped out a lot of fellow Olds lovers!

So is OP up and running again?

John, I wish you the best with it, but as long as the other half of OP is around I will not go back. At 56 years old I am not at all inclined to put up with an egomaniac's bullshyt, because I get enough of that at work. At least there I get paid for it.

My regards to the friends I had there. They know who they are.

I'm much more technical then I am mechanical which is why I come to these boards for much needed help which I have received plenty of! When a website error came up the least I could do was try to find the problem. I still think we got lucky in the fact we were able to fix things

Well, you probably know the old poem (circulated on the ARPANET back in the day...):

ODE TO A PROGRAMMER

"No program's that perfect," they said with a shrug
"The client is happy. What's one little bug?"
But he was determined, the others went home.
He dug out the flowcharts, deserted, alone.

Chain smoking, cold coffee, logic, deduction,
"I've got it!" he cried, "Just change one instruction!"
Then two, then three more, as year followed year,
And strangers would comment, "Is that guy still here?"

He died at the console, of hunger and thirst.
Next day he was buried, face down, nine-edge first.
And his wife, through her tears, accepting his fate, said
"He's not really gone - He's just working late."

RIP
