could someone please decipher this date code, I know 68 but unsure of month/day ty

P= Muncie
8= 1968
K=October
02= day of month.

October 2,1968 build date.

Likely for an early 69. This would have been made before the car date code so by the time it was in a car, the car would likely be at least 2 weeks newer than the transmission.

depends. whats the vin derivative stamp on the main case?

I have a 69 dated M-21 with a 70 vin derivative stamp. No idea where the camaro is this trans originally came from

Production for 68 F-85 models ended on 7-31-68. That would make it a late 68 build date.

Two weeks is just a guess, and nothing more should be presumed from that. Date codes are far overrated for accuracy of what went into a car, date-wise. They are for dating the parts period. There is no such thing as date correct part. A part off the end of the shelf that is outside nothing more than a hypothetical window could have come on the car and can be totally correct. Different plants are involved even.
That all said, it is easy to tell if this trans went into a '68 or '69. Check the VIN derivative.
