The only insect repellent for both horse and rider registered by the EPA in the
USA... and the only one with Picaridin.
About Picaridin:
Picaridin, the
unique active ingredient in new
Farnam®
Centaura™
Insect Repellent for Horse and Rider
has been used
in Europe for years. Picaridin is recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO)
for use against malaria
-
carrying mosquitoes.
Picaridin is registered for use on the human body and clothing to repel biting flies, ticks, chiggers, fleas,
and mosquitoes.
Picaridin both repels and deters insects, so that insects move away from the chemical
and do not feed if they encounter skin or clothing that has been treated. Picaridin applied to cloth
deterred insects from
biting
through the cloth to the skin.
²
Picaridi
n repels insects and makes them less
likely to bite.
It seems to block mosquitoes from sensing their prey. Picaridin does not kill insects.
¹
Farnam® Centaura™ Insect Repellent for Horse and Rider contains 20% Picaridin.

That's the stuff. Have to be careful or it'll wipe the label right off the bottle. Nothing better for the bugs tho. A little on the cuff of your pants, jacket and the bill of your cap .. maybe a little on your collar too. Nothing would come near.

Bullfrog has always been reliable for me -- bug repellent + sunscreen. Lived in South Carolina for a year and Norfolk for 3, in both places I had to mow the lawn and using that stuff was a night/day difference when compared to using nothing.
