I don't really care if someone wants to build a car like this or not. I care that this seller is advertising it as some sort of rare (and thus valuable) special car. The real 1977 Indy pace car was an Olds Delta 88 and Hurst had nothing to do with it.
Im wondering if the seller is playing on words to avoid fraud by saying "custom build" rather than custom built by Hurst?
It looks to me like someone with too much money, an over active imagination and too much time did this?

I would imagine it would turn a lot of heads for various reasons but a little too obnoxious for my taste.
I do not understand how a company that profits from the sale of a item that makes a false claim cannot be held responsible. They are profiting from and promoting the continuance of a fraud.
I know this happens on a lot of different items, but sooner or later you would think a smart law firm would file against them.
Ahh, what do I know, I'm just a old, retired mechanic, and personally think that thing is hideous.
I sent him a message on eBay saying something to the effect of, “If you’re going to make a claim of the car being a 1 of 1 and a Hurst build and a Pace car, at least provide 1 picture of the car in a book or magazine or at least one piece of paper to authenticate it “ Let’s see if he puts that message on the bottom of the auction page and answers it.
Somebody spent a lot of time and money making that car look that bad. I wonder what the reserve is. Hurst would have never made something that looked that gaudy.
This thing is so painful to look at, I think it permanently scarred my retinas.
It goes like this...
"Dear seller, please show any paperwork on this car that is related to Hurst."
*crickets*
Sigh. It's frustrating that people do this. But do they know better? Or do they just listen to the previous guy that said, "Yeah man, this thing is legit!"
Nothing spreads faster than inaccurate information! I hope no one gets boned paying for thinking they have something special. I mean it IS special, just not in the way they would be thinking.
If anyone needs me, I will be scouring my eyes with bleach and an SOS pad trying to unsee this thing.
It's a sharp looking vehicle and was most likely done by some excellent automotive professionals... But for me, I'm just not a fan of these supposed 1 of 1 type projects...
With 84 month financing,it should be very appealing to you. You could even get some Weather Tech mats for it if they make them in that color.
Funny you should say that... When Dave Macneil first started, the original Weathertech mats were black with a red stripe around the raised channel on the outer edge. They would've fit right in with that beast.

Car hobby for many is too about atmosphere on shows, local cruisins and so on. And they are eager to know about things, and internet is amongst the best sources to study yourself. But with this kind of attitude and athosphere for something different than bolt-on resto or ultrasuper-rare survivor with correct stripe and paint-dot, they may just turn to something else..
Do you often see younger people bashing those beforementioned bolt-on restored cars and survivors, etc? Nope, they appreciate them for what they are. And want to get accepted just like they accept you, despite "original" not being their style.
Not bashing around internet and laughing about 14" rims and 455 swap to anything with 4 wheels.
And dont lie to yourself; those few cars they choose to build and present, would be otherwise rotting on someones backyard, they wouldnt be at road.

I think your missing the underlying point here. The post was created by to shine a spotlight on a obvious case of FRAUD being perpetrated on the an unsuspecting public by the sellor of the car. The sellor is intentionally trying to mislead a potential buyer into believing he is buying something ultra rare and unique when in fact it is nothing more than a collection of stickers and painted emblems on an otherwise common vessel.
With the old car marketplace rising in value so quickly, it has created a haven for misleading ads and deliberate fraud by some.
Critics of new and old cars have existed since the first horseless carriage hit the road. Most people take it for what it is or where it comes from as nothing more than people expressing their opinions...good or bad.
Being to local cruises I overhear the younger crowd doing the same thing to each other all the time. It's almost a right of passage in the car world, and the over the top offensive comments do get brought in line by the majority crowd or leave after being shunned.
The Ebay ad is a clear case of deception and fraud. If a potential buyer "Googles" this car from now and going forward they could be saved from making a big financial mistake, when this forums comments show up in the search. This Ebay ad is also being discussed heavily on the Facebook "Hurst Olds and 442" page. You can't educate the layman buyers by being silent.

the original builders of this car have been found and heard from, confirming the car is not as advertised by the current sellor/dealer.
It was only intended to be a conversation piece.
funny story is I had the same thing happen to me two years ago when I sold a very nice 1970 cutlass supreme to a dealer who then claimed it to be a rare SX model when he advertised it.
Hopefully the guys bidding on this thing are just playing around with the seller. I would hate to see someone get ripped off like that. (Pondering if I should bid 50,000��)

Yes i realised that, it was more aimed to those blaming the look publicly.
I don't care if people of bad taste are discourage from the car hobby. I fully expect any art I create to get criticized, and so should anyone else. I will criticize anything of bad taste and/or poorly done.
This one has a few "poorly done" but is mostly "bad taste."
I am not a "everyone gets a trophy" person; bad mods get the hate.
