Just on a whim I called the number. Rang through and went to voice mail. Didn't leave a message, but chances are that yes, it is a scam. Anyone with that car and asking that kind of price would take a bit more care with the posting I do believe. I ran across a 65 convertible in Vegas on CL, and the price was a bit too good to be true. The pics also had watermarking in them for a now defunct website, and the phone number went to google voice. Both things in combo told me it wasn't legit at all, so I flagged it as prohibited.

I hate the fact that these scammers are trying to pull crap like this. From what I understand, in some places, the CL boards are totally overrun with so many scams that the people trying to legitimately sell things are now looking elsewhere, as it's too much of a hassle to weed out the good from the bad.

This is one of the main drawbacks of Craigslist, which I DO love for so many reasons....the sellers and buyers can be the worst flakes and scammers around. This car is a bargain at $850, not so much I wouldn't think at $85,000 or they would get the ad proof read! Who knows, it might be $8,500...but people constantly put in some low figure on the ad so that everyone will look....it's pretty dumb and you just end up having cranky people reading your ads....

Kathleen (who waited for 8 separate people to NOT show up to just give away a rooster! Number nine was the charm.)
