Thumbs up Corvair

Went to the local parts store with my son on Saturday.

As we pulled in to the parking lot, I spot a maroon Corvair with the engine compartment up.

The owner was changing the battery.

Upon closer inspection, it was a 1966 Corsa in maroon, with a black interior.

4 speed and bucket seats.

Here is the kicker: It was a 50k miles original paint car. It looked like it was about 2 to 3 years old.

A really nice survivor. Too bad I left my phone at home for pictures....

Nice. Madeira Maroon. If it was a Corsa, was it a 140 or a turbo? Either way, cool car.

I bought a W 30 intake from a guy recently. I asked him what happened to the rest of the W30 engine , he said this intake came off of a toronado engine that is in his 1967 corvair corsa.
I would love to see this car.

Coincidence with this post. About a mile from my house this morning I passed a sad sight of a burned up 1964 corvair that had just been hosed down still sitting in the road with an officer talking to the owner. Didn't total the car but the back half was pretty roached. It looked to have been a real nice car before the fire with a good looking white paint job. Good reminder to take a few minutes and make sure all the rubber fuel lines in your old car are fresh.

My Dad's first new car was a maroon 1965 Corvair coupe with black interior. It was a stripper, but did have an automatic. He had it up till the early 70s (when I was about 6 or 7 years old), and while I vaguely remember riding in it, I remember it mostly from family photos, 8mm films, and stories my parents told. It was such a low option car that it had aluminum backup light delete covers in place of the inner set of rear lights (see pic below). My dad also installed some faux white walls, "portawalls" I believe they were called.
