My 65 Cutlass F85 Holiday Coupe with a 330 and Jetaway came to me with a Carter carburator (forget the number, but it cross-references to an early sixties Corvette with a 327 engine).
It starts and runs fine, but I'd like to make an effort to find a carb that it would have had from the factory. For some reason that information seems to be hard to come by. Anyone have that information?

My book says, if non AC, is,7025054, 7025157, with AC. Those are 4Bl.

Mine is a Carter, I thought it was Rochester. Has been sitting a while but the throttle plates are still free.

How does the 4GC compare to a Q Jet from the 66 or 67 models? Originality aside, would there be any benefit to using a later carb on my 65?

You'll have to change the manifold or use an adapter for a QJet. Stay away from a 66 QJet, any thing later is ok.
Question: If you want to put what came on it why are you looking at QJets?

Good question. It has to do with my unfamiliarity with the Rochester carbs. Yes, I'd like the "correct" carb on the engine (seeing that most everything else on the car is original). However, I wouldn't want to go through the effort of sourcing one and then finding out that I should have gone with a later Q Jet because perhaps the 4 Jet is problematic in one area or the other, I don't know.
If the 4 Jet is an all-around good carb that's easy to live with on the street, I'll try to find one, but would be good to get that confirmation first.
