Cool video about the '69 H/O 'vert
So heres some observations...
At the 19.0 second spot, the shot of the interior, I see a stick and an automatic brake pedal.
I did not know about the gold rugs or the anodized engine accessory brackets.

I believe that was a Hurst Autostick. An automatic shifter to look like a manual.

I've never understood the love affair with fake manual floor shifters. I've got column shifted manuals and automatics, and floor shifted manuals and automatics. I rarely manually shift an automatic. I can see the need to not skip past a gear when manually shifting an automatic, but, shouldn't it do it for you, considering being set up well?
I seem to recall Olds Ralph telling me it was a traction thing at the dragstrip, you spun like a mother but would hook and you wanted to remain in first during all that time.

By keeping the shifter in "L", the transmission won't up shift on you if you let off the gas pedal to get traction. Most good drivers learn how to feather the gas pedal on the starting line or at a green light with street tires.
On the street I always loved the guys with jacked up rear ends or "nose down" because they were shifting weight from the rear wheels to over the front wheels. The last place you need weight removed is the rear wheels on a higher horsepower car.
