Console for a dual gate shifter

I have a dual gate auto shifter that came in a box of parts when I bought my 72 cutlass. I would like to install it, but have no console. Can a Dual Gate Shifter be used with a standard Auto console, or is there a specific console for a dual gate?

The original console can be modified to accept the dual gate shifter, that’s what the factory did. That’s what I did. They only made one console then adapted them to fit the dual gate or the 4 speed shifters. There are lines on the console to show you were to cut them. There is also factory documentation that details the process. There are plenty of threads on her showing the process.

Here are some pics showing the Hurst Dual Gate cut out lines. As Joel mentioned above, there are lines molded into the plastic on the backside.

The console shown may look odd in the floor shifter area but that's b/c it was broken up in that area and I started to repair it for the regular auto floor shifter. Figured it would make a good console for a Hurst Dual Gate since cutting it out for that would eliminate the broken areas I was repairing.

Cut slowly or the plastic will melt due to the blade friction. I had to stop using a jig saw and go to a hand saw.
