Considering swapping 324

I have a 55 super 88 sedan that I have to pull the engine out of to check bottom end "ticking" noise.

I happen to see a guy with a 394 on craigslist (out of a 64 with 30K)....comes with the slim jim too. I am considering picking up that motor and swapping out the 324 for the 394....Has anyone done this? Mounts are the same right, front?

Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

If you do that you sure don't want to use the slim jim.

First give Tony a call at Ross Racing he knows more than anybody on this type of swap. Yes it can be done but there is a lot more to it than just pulling the 324 and dropping the 394 in there. The 55's slant pan is a much stronger transmission and doesn't come with all the engineering problems that the Slim Jim does. I think the front mounts will work (there may be a height difference) but not the rears....Tedd

Guys thanks for your great input.....the reason I'm considering the swap is that the 324 is going to need bottom end work (due to sitting too long). Im guessing that work will be around the same $ as obtaining a newer drive train.....hence the Olds 394

By the way I'm in So Cal about 10 min from Mexican border
