Considering buying a '59.

Hi. I'm considering buying a '59 Dynamic 88 hardtop. In general, how hard is it to find parts for this car? Thanks for your replies!

If you are looking for engine parts it is not too hard. If you are looking for body parts it is going to be difficult. That is a one year only body style which makes it difficult. Nobody reproduces any of the body part so used would be your only option. There are several people on here that have 50's and will probably speak up. Do you have any pictures of the car?

That car is beautiful. Looks like the frame and undercarriage has survived the test of time well. Maybe a little trans leak, likely the shaft seal but that's an easy fix.

I agree with Allan. Given the condition it's in, it doesn't look like it needs much of anything, and I'd expect that given the asking price. What parts are you expecting to have to replace, other than oil filters and fan belts once in a while?

I think the car looks good and to me appears to be priced very fairly.

Not expecting any need for parts now but was wondering how available parts would be if I need them in the future.

I don't live in Minnesota and I haven't driven it. But I had it inspected. Inspector found a little rust in one of the wheel wells and small leaks at the pan and differential.

That's sharp. A very nice car for the money.

That is an awesome car for the money but like everyone has said, 1 year design make future availability of sheet metal parts really difficult. Engine would be no problem.

As far as parts go, "wear" parts are easy to get for the most part. Anything for the engine is available. The only chassis parts that are not available new are inner tie rod ends. I have not yet been able to get lower control arm bumpers new or NOS. Turned drums are available from fusick(I do not recommend the reproduction drums from Kanter. Poor fit and appearance) All brake wear parts are available. Most electrical switches are available new, but you can still find NOS ones if you're looking in the right places. Basically if it can wear out, you can get it. FYI, the recovered seats in the car you are looking at have the incorrect pattern in the inserts(they should be cloth, im sure the new leather they used was much cheaper than the correct NOS Cloth). Regardless, its a super nice car.
