Condolences for Chris Witt ("Octania" on this forum)

My condolences to the family.
Very shocking news to say the least and a pioneer in the online community to say the least. I've learned a great deal from him when I was starting out close to 20 years ago.
I will also miss those play-doh girdle bolts he sold on eBay

Wow, this is very disturbing. Practically in tears here. I dealt with Chris several times and each time was great. His knowledge and expertise will be sorely missed. I have to say I loved his humor too. Good bye Chris RIP.

Wow what a bummer, Chris was a great guy. I talked to him a couple of times, sold him a couple of items. Really nice guy that knew Oldsmobile. I remember seeing his name long ago on 442.com when i was just dreaming of buying another Olds. He apparently touched many lives. RIP Chris.

I learned the art of packing things to survive a nuclear war when shipping from things I bought from Chris... he took the time to make sure parts would arrive safely. Traded messages with him about parts over the years, definitely was a true Olds nut... just missed meeting him in person at the Dearborn nats in 2009.
RIP Chris.

About 20 years ago, I was looking for an Olds dealer plate.
Placed the ad, and nothing happened.....until Chris took it upon himself to send me one free of charge.
I always enjoyed his wit (pun intended), Olds knowledge, and sense of humor.
RIP Oldsbuddy......

RIP Octania
I am deeply saddened to hear of Chris' passing. I only "knew" him through C.O., but feel like he is very close because of the way he interacted and cut-up with folks here. Prayers and condolences for his family and friends.

Wow, that's the truth. About 20 years ago I bought a forged crank from Chris. It arrived wrapped in a shipping cocoon that was about an inch thick of corrugated cardboard wraps. I think there was more danger of me damaging the crank removing that wrap than there was to the crank during shipment.

Sad news. I got the phone call earlier today from a mutual friend and just feel sad. I talked to Chris at homecoming. I guess you never know when you'll be seeing some one for the last time. RIP Chris. ~BOB

Very sad day for Chris' family, close friends and extended C.O. friends. I always enjoyed his take on things and learned from him over the past couple of years. I pray he enjoys eternal peace now that he has left this part of his journey. It's really strange how a complete stranger's death can make me feel so bummed out. Chris and his family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Chris Witt update. I just got off the phone with his wife Angela. He donated his organs. Will be a couple of days before all details are done. She will have a memorial service. As soon as she gets the details she will text me with the info. I will pass on said info to everyone.
Regards Mark.

Chris was the first Oldsmobile person I talked to in 2003 after being out of the Olds thing for over 25 years. When I first bought my car I was looking for a motor because mine didn't come with one. Chris had a 68 400G short block for sale. I called him about it (remember when we used to CALL people). He explained to me that if it wasn't numbers matching then put a 455 in it. He totally talked me OUT of buying something he had for sale. I always appreciated that advice. He's helped me on lots of things over the years from parts to advice. He's really going to be missed by me and probably thousands of other Olds enthusiasts.

What a loss to the Olds community, and this site. It is amazing how someone you never knew, but through electronic conversations, have such an impact.
Thoughts and prayers to the family as their loss is even greater. May Octania rest in peace.
