Complete front end replacement progress...PICS

About half way done with disc brake conversion, upper & lower control arms, sway bar & steering linkage. Also have complete brake line kit front to back. Just waiting on shocks now, so I will touch up some of the paint on the frame rails in the meantime. The powder coat calipers look great through the spokes, and it'll be great to be able to actually stop this beast!!! Hopefully the andling is improved as well. Upgraded the sway bar to 1.25".

Thought I would throw in the pile of old control arms, brake drums, and sway bar, retired after only 118k!!

Looks Nice! Be sure you don't scrap all the old stuff! If nobody here needs those A-arms I'm sure you could peddle them on ebay. John

Well here is an update...both sides are done, half of the new brake lines are installed, master cylinder & power booster are also installed. For some reason, the front brake line routed around the motor mounts, so we actually had to unbolt the motor mounts and jack up the motor to install it. Also got the new KYB shocks installed. Next on the list is to hookup the new steering linkage kit I got from PST, run the rest of the brake lines out back (the conversion kit I got included complete brake line kit, front to back), rebuild the rear drums and replace the wheel cylinders. Also need to run the vacuum line from the manifold to the power booster, fill the system with fluid, and then hopefully I will have brakes again!!! The control arms were a little tight getting into the lower brackets, but with a little persuasion, we got them in. Travel is smooth and doesn't bind at all.

Don't mind the oil pan, I will be cleaning it up and repainting it in the midst of all the other tasks. I know orange is not an olds motor color...it's the color I wanted. Blue and orange are my 2 favorite colors, I just like how they look together.

That orange makes the engine look like its glowing red hot!
Do post a ride report when done - I think you will be happy with it.

I will be sure to follow up, and i'll continue to update this thread until completion with pics. And the orange is kind of a red-ish orange, and ur right, it does look like it's glowing, lol. And I am just noticing now, it almost matches the calipers perfectly!! The steering linkage is also much more rigid than the factory setup. The centerlink is thicker and completely tubular like the control arms, so I think the steering response and handling is going to be really improved, along with the improved braking.

front end is complete and running good!! so nice having responsive braking, and it looks better too!! the steering is alot tighter, and the roll is minimal. the first pic actually shows the factory sway bar installed cuz the first bar i got was the wrong one, but i have since installed the correct bar. so the entire front end is all new now....i tried to get the best pics i could, but it's hard without a lift. the light is a little low, but you get the jist.
