Compatability question
I am under the impression that a rear sway bar with lower controll arms and a dual exhaust crossover will transfer from a '74 442 onto a '77 442 or cutlass supreme... Is anyone able to confirm this for me please? Thanks, Randy

I have never done it, but I'm pretty sure they will. The parts from a Monte Carlo, Lemans, Grand Prix, Century and Regal should also work. Heck even the windshields on the two doors exchange with other two doors.
The rear sway bar will be the same on the 74 and 77 so why change them out (unless you are missing the sway bar for some reason).

The swap I am trying for is going from a '74 442 to a '77 Cutlass Supreme Brogham... I do know that a '77 442 will fit a '77 brougham but was hoping the '74 would fit these cars as well... Hope I'm not just confusing you more

From what I know of the 73-77 Cutlass lineup, the chassis and suspension are all interchangeable (within their body styles) so you should have no issues with it. Being a sway bay, it will be really easy for you to check in advance by simply lining up the bolting surfaces. I would go a step further with the rear control arms though. If you haven't got boxed RCAs I'd stitch in a set of inserts to stiffen them up a bit. The 73 442 / Cutlass S was fairly heavy = 3800+ pounds. By 77 the weight had been reduced to around 3500. Still heavier than my 72 Cutlass S - at 3400. Bizzare considering the gov't influence to increase gas mileages and vehicle weights was supposed to be making cars more fuel efficient by lowering weight. Of course most of the extra weight was the pollution control equipment. Wierd, or what???

That was really a silly thing wasn't it? Up here the push to go metric showed how ignorant some of the production standards were when it came to implementing the same values. In Canada they just transposed mph with Km/hr (not even close to the same values) for bumper impact. So it went from the old standard of 10mph to 10km/hr. Can you say Body shop paradise???
