Well, a little history first.. In 1965 my dad bought a brand new 442. In 1966 his twin brother went and bought a brand new 66 442.

They drove and raced them for years until families came and the cars were sold.

Here we are years later..

My cousin found this 65 442 out of state and I happened to find the 66 locally here. Long story short, the 65 should be picked up this week and then on its way here to me. It is the same color combo as my dad's only his car was a 3spd in the floor.. This one is auto.

My cousin (dad's twin brother's son) is buying the 66 pictured. He and I have always been real close. He lost his dad nearly 10 years ago and I am fortunate to still have mine.

I think it is great (and a bit ironic) that we will each basically have the same/similar cars our dad's did so many years ago.


P.S. the 66 is a 4spd, tripower, PS, PB, A/C car.

Welcome aboard! That 66 looks like it's never turned a mile. I find the irony is more a lucky coincidence that both you and your cousin share the same great ideals as your Dads and are about to continue a legacy. Only thing I see as an irony is now you have a 66 and he has the 65!

Enjoy the time you have left with your Dad. They don't last forever. My condolences to your cousin; I'm sure he would have loved to have his Dad around to see this kind of car 'reunion'.

Is this an actual picture of the car? My eyes could be playing tricks on me but it looks a little low (tilted) on the left rear? Might be just the perspective with the mountains in the background.

Yes, that is an actual picture of the car. I think it is the way it is sitting on the gravel/dirt.
I have several others the previous owner took. He was quite a good photographer IMO. Also, the 65 graced the cover of the Jan. 2010 cover of Olds Club of America Magazine (for what it's worth).

Thanks, I was actually just looking through the old info I still have from my dad's original 1965 442. I have the original owner protection plan with protect-o-plate, original dealer notebook and pen for logging services, original registration, copy of original title, etc. Wish there was some way of figuring out if this car still existed. He sold it around 1975 or so and it's probably long gone.

It was one of 287 3spd (on the floor) post cars.

Thought that was pretty neat. I am getting real excited about getting this car!
