Colour me happy...

I just picked up a '70 Cutlass S for parts. Looks decent enough from a distance on the topside, but the floors are crumbling, the paint needs to be stripped and bodywork redone, no registration and no keys. It was sitting outside for ten years under a tarp, and looks like it may have suffered some accident damage before being laid up. We put air in the tires last night, found only one wheel to be seized (pads on rotors) and it rolls easily after years of neglect. It started life as a base model Cutlass S, but now has...

- Complete 1969 455 with C heads - engine turns easily by hand
- Posi Rear end (wasn't sure until I got it home and jacked it up)
- Front discs
- Solid quarters to replace my rusted metal
- Console (and incorrect bucket seats)

I need to get through the backseat into the trunk to open it, but hoping the trunk pan is in good condition. I need to see if I can find any of those MacDoo Patented Back Seat Removal Assemblies on ePay. The parts I could see from under the car looked good.

What can I look for to determine what transmission is in there?

Nice find. That should get some good parts and might even make you a dollar or two.

Take a look at the pan on the trans. If it looks like a square with on corner cut off, its a 350. If the shape is much weirder looking it proabaly a 400. Some say if looks like the US state of Texas, its a 400
