CO Site performance

Recently I have been having consistent problems with the site's performance.
When I click on "Todays Posts", more than 50% of the time the site will hang. A new tab will open a different site with no problem.
I am using IE 10.0.92.
Pop blocker is On
Norton and Shockwave are the only add-ons.
Security and Privacy settings are Default.

I think the problem is the IE. I used to use that but it was getting slower than pouring 40 weight oil at minus 30. I changed to Google Chrome, added Adblocker Plus and Do Not Track. Speed is instant.

That's interesting about IE. We use it at work since it is our "corporate approved" browser, but my department is doing some web based things and we discovered that in the browser world anything other than IE is called a "modern browser". I guess this means that IE is an antique browser, which would explain all the issues folks have with it.

Also, most companies with IT will monitor and patch any problems with virus protection, spyware, malware or tracking before it is routed through the server to your workstation. I think it's called a job guarantee

I might have suspected IE, but I have been using it for accessing CO for two years now, and it is only recently, within the last few weeks, that I have been having a problem.
Methinks it is something with the server.

You do know that IB has been doing some revisions to the site? Your browser may be experiencing some handshake issues that weren't there before. I was using IE for years up till 2 years ago. Experienced the exact problem you're having. It wasn't the site, it was the browser. Soon as I swapped to Chrome the response time from the site was instantaneous.

Something to consider. If you download Chrome or Firefox (both excellent BTW) and don't like the way they work for you? Simply remove them and restore your old system. Both Chrome and Firefox have some different features that weren't on IE. Takes a bit of getting used to, but worth it IMO.

Thanks Allan. I use Firefox for some applications, but never had a problem with IE and CO until recently. I knew they were making some changes and posted this to give them some feedback. If they can't make it work, I will use Firefox.

Well since I have both loaded on my laptop I went ahead and tried browsing on CO with it tonight. Not a lot of difference as far as speed, but the links seem to work better.
