Clunk noise from front driver side (Z bar?)

I am at a loss. I just whent thru the entire front end and tightened all the bolts to factory specs (motor mount bolts were loose) but i am still getting a clunking noise when i take off but it is not all the titme, if i take off very slowly there is no noise if i take off like a muscle car i get a clunking noise coming from the front driver side. I am thinking that maybe the Z bar bushing are worn out and need replacement. I just replaced the uppoer bolt joints and the sway bar bushings. I just cant figure it out. Any help is much appreciated.

An absence of any sort of body torque is another indicator of this. Does it twist any in front like it has power when you take off hard?

All the motor mounts are fairly new but that doesnt mean they are good either. How do i determine which one is bad?

Rubber body mounts are brand new so i dont think that that is it. The passenger side engine mount bolts were loose so maybe that is it. Funny because i replaced all the engine rubber mounts and transmission rubber mount about 10000 miles ago and they didnt even need it but luckly i keeped the old ones so i have spares.

You'll need 2 people to do the test, don't stand in front of the car.

A arm bushings, are they good? A bad upper A arm bushing will definitely clunk.

I checked all the bushings and the front motor mounts and they are in great shape. U joints are in great shape as well. The suspect now is the transmission rubber mount as there is an oil leak going on top of it and i know oil will damage any rubber mount.

Could be a ball joint. Have they ever been changed?

Ntb

I took the car to NTB for a front end alignment. The mechanic looked for the squicky squick for 1 hour. The only thing he found was the brand new upper ball joint on the driver side squicks when the front end of the car goes up and down. I greased it with Mobil 1 grease prior to the alignment. He said wait a couple of weeks so that the grease can penetrate better but if it still does it could be a defective ball joint. I would recommend this front end alignment mechanic to any one in the DMV area. You will need to make an appointment as he only works part time but he is old school and one of the nicest persons i have met in a while. It was a great experience. Bring him the torque specs and ask him to tighten all bolts to factory specs and he will. Another perk is that they only charge $99.99 and everyone else wants $150.00

It's great to find a good mechanic who knows how to perform a proper alignment on the classics. Thanks for sharing.
