Chrome emblem restoration

Where would I send a delicate chrome emblem to be restored? This emblem is simply not available. It is pot metal and does have a couple pits on it. I have no idea how they could restore something like this but I need it done. I don't want a fly by night place, looking for a quality job.

Try R & D refinishing in Elizabethton, TN. I have not used them, but I have seen their work and it looked fantastic. They specialize in Pot metal restoration.

They drill out the pits, fill with silver solder, file and polish, and then replate.

I know that is how it is done on larger parts but this is so small and delicate that the heat from soldering it I fear will ruin it. They would know better than me. I am for sure not an expert.

I have several price quote requests out to chroming shops but no replies yet.

Eric,

Scott Phillips had his broken 62 Jetfire emblems repaired by Qual Krom in Erie, PA. They did a phenomenal job. Not only did they fill the pits, they repaired the broken ones and even attached broken mounting posts. Not cheap, but high quality work.

Try this place. Email the pics to Steve and see what he thinks he can do or not do.
I have a few pieces related by him and I'm more than satisfied.

Is this chrome plated? Out here the top name for show chrome is Christensen Plating, but it sounds like the others might have more experience with this specific job.

Wow! for sure not cheep, lol. I am sending it to them to get an accurate quote but quoted $250 as a "ballpark" estimate from pictures. Glad I don't need the entire set restored.
