I've seen this chassis manual in several places. Online eBay even on this site it's been talked about. Is this THE BOOK to have for all around mechanical knowledge? I believe somewhere on this site someone talked about a person on this site who makes clean copies of these or produces them or something I forgot exactly what it was about and now I can't seem to find the thread. Either way is this the book I want if I'm going to be working on my own car?
The other member reproduces the P.I.M. Product Information Manual which is the assembly manual for the factory to assemble your car before you get your hot little hands on it.
Do not buy a reprint or digital version of the Chassis Service Manual. There are a ton of paper originals available. The copies are scans of an original and lose detail. This does not apply to the PIM, as originals are nearly impossible to find.
Definitely the right manual to have... Find a good used original...
Thank you gentlemen. Any idea what a fair price would be? I'm seeing some at "good" $89
"Very good" $109
I'm also seeing one that is listed as a "2 volume set". Does anyone know if the entire manual is more than one book? That one is a reproduction so possibly that's why it's in two books?

The officially produced original GM 1970 Oldsmobile Chassis Service Manual is contained within one volume (manual) - not two.
Be careful of those attempting to sell manuals with a generic all glossy and shiny picture of the manual - there are plenty of people trying to make a fast buck - do your homework (as you are doing) and look at the fine details of what they are advertising. Anyone worth their weight as a seller will clearly state the manual as an original. They will also state if it is a reproduction. As has been stated, buy an original only.
Here is, IMO, a very good price for both an original GM 1970 CSM & and accompanying original FBM.
