Center Dash Ash Tray

Does anyone know when and if the Center Dash Ash Tray changed colors for 1970 A Body Cars ? Were the early builds (late 1969) silver trays and then changed to dark green trays with black sides in early 1970 ?

Well, Mike, I'm just as interested as you, but there doesn't seem to be any proper answer from the group yet. While I have been digging, I note there are at least three types of ashtray - silver/zinc with tan slides, silver with black slides, and dark green with black slides. Is this a supplier thing? I know my January Rallye has a bright silver tray. My April 442 has a dark green one, but I have no idea if it's original - it's just old and aged (and I plan to replace it with a silver when restoration is done). Is there a correlation based on the plants? I have to assume at some point they would have run out of the silver and started using the green. This isn't a body-altering piece, so it would have been a soft conversion. But when?
