It is very unlikely that you will find a single source for all your parts. A number of well-known parts suppliers serve the Oldsmobile hobby, and you would do yourself well to become familiar with all of them. A by no means exhaustive list would include Fusick Automotive, Rockauto, USA Parts Supply, Year One, Steele Rubber, and about a dozen others I'm not remembering right now. Others on here will have additional suggestions.

There's the "special parts" vs "common parts" difference also

If you need for example "a" carburetor, then any one of us hoarders can provide one, or new or rebuilt units can be had. Whereas, if you need "THE" carburetor, date coded correct for your 1969 W31, with a rare number.... that'll be a bit harder. If you need some used brackets or pulleys, that's where we hoarders and epay can help. NOS parts can be had thru folks such as Ron Memmer.

For really common parts where any brand will do, like oh brake shoes... this method works well- find a part number at say Rockauto.com. Note their price. Then search google or Amazon.com and see if any are handy, and what they are priced at. This method got me the rings I needed for my recent 403 assembly- epay search was fruitless because the seller did not know what he had [what the application was] - he just had "some rings, PN xxxx" - I had to learn the PN I was looking for, then search he web for THAT info.

There's always the painful search process at epay, and of course, if you have the GM part number, gmpartsdirect.com - the dealer still offers a few parts- radiator shroud comes to mind. They just charge absurd high "shipping" even to the USA.

So, probably the FIRST thing you want is an Assembly Manual, so that you know how the parts go together, and the PN.

Then decide if you need/ can afford NOS new, refurbished, or cores to work on...

I have also a PN database in Excel format- where one can look up terms like "dipstick" and find the PN, and the GM-speak term for it- "Indicator, oil level"- so you can find other listings in GM PN catalogs. It's gathered over years of net surfing, and incomplete and imperfect, but for many parts, it provides useful info as to what will work... and what OTHER vehicles you might find one on.

Oh and if you run across folks that won't do international shipping for some reason, just have one of us here be the middleman.

I'll offer a slightly different opinion that Chris. First, you need a Chassis Service Manual and Fisher Body Manual. These two books provide all the info you need to service your car. They do not, however, list part numbers for the most part. The Assembly Manual that Chris mentioned is really collection of factory engineering drawings and is probably more appropriate for someone who is performing a complete restoration to assembly line condition. If your intent is to keep the car driveable, the Assembly Manual will be less useful than the CSM and Body Manual.

As Chris noted, there are "parts" and there are "parts". For routine maintenance items (tune up, filters, brakes, suspension), RockAuto.com is probably the best bet. Be aware, however, that their online catalog contains some errors (many documented in this forum), so if you're confused, ask before ordering. For Olds-unique restoration parts, you'll need to contact the many Olds specialty houses such as Fusick. For non-original performance parts, you'll need to try a combination of the big suppliers (Summit, Jegs) and Olds specialists. Good luck.
