Yowsa!

That had to hurt.

VERY briefly.

I assume that this is a cruiser-cam - the fact of the camera, the rapidity with which he pulled over, and the fact that he parked in the slow lane all point to it.

I will be showing this video to my 14 year old, who will be taking driver's ed this summer. I've had things like that happen while I was driving, and I can tell you, it's very "interesting" when it does. When the fecal matter contacts the rotating ventilation device, you've got to know how to duck.

I counted 5 seconds from breaking traction to impact. Hardly enough time to know what hit him.

I'll bet the truck driver has nightmares.

And will for a long time.

I still see one car I hit, every now and then.

It sticks.

Of sorts... 7 years as a paramedic in NYC.

You wouldn't think you could put an 11,000 pound ambulance up on two wheels, but you can .

That is one of the most disturbing videos I've ever seen. Combinations of road conditions, driver error (you can see the SUV driver 'jerk' the car back from crossing the center line when it started to drift) and speed for conditions? Looks like freezing rain?

My heart stopped when I saw the impact. No one could survive that and worse, no one had a chance to avoid or react.

My son starts his driving tommorrow morning at 0700. That's when they like to start young drivers out for the first time if possible - fewer cars on the road early and on Sunday. He's going to watch this video, not to scare him, but to make him more aware of how vulnerable he could be at any given time while driving. No amount of safety engineering will protect you from that kind of crash. Like being hit with a brick wall travelling 120mph!

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims and their families/friends. I also count the truck driver and witnesses (including the HP officer) in that group of people. A very sad day on the highway.

Yes, disturbing is a fitting word! It sounded to me like two people, and man and a woman, were speaking in something other than English. But those cars/trucks looked like anything one might see here in the U.S. Except the SUV did appear to be mostly plastic the way it shattered.

Eric, 7 years NYC paramedic! I'm sure you've seen things that gave you nightmares!
