Car Cover

I have always used a car cover on my 442. A cheap one from Walmart. I just noticed that there is some wear on the paint on one corner. I will have to repaint the spot, clear it, and buff it. I don't want to have to do this again. Do you guys use car covers? What kind do you use? Are you happy with them?

I have a California Car Cover Company cover on my '68 442, '69 442 and '70 GTO. They are great. I couldn't find the stock number for each of my covers ('68 and '69 same, '70 different because the GTO is actually a little longer with the enduro-bumper nose). The covers I bought each cost about $210 and I ordered them at swap meets where California Car Cover Company usually has a booth. All of my cars are kept inside year-round but I understand the covers I bought are also OK outside for short periods. They have different types of covers to meet your needs. You can see what they have at www.calcarcover.com or call them at 800-423-5525.

The car cover I chose after doing some extensive searching was a custom cotton flannel car cover from Auto Chic (MPT Industries) which I paid $160. From what I understand, they are one of only three companies that actually make their own covers, and are not just putting a brand on something made overseas. I would highly recommend these covers, and you can check them out at http://www.autochic.com/covers.html. The person I worked with there was Michael Trueba, Jr. and he will walk you through what would be the best cover for your needs, and will make any custom adjustments for mirrors, antenna, length, etc. To protect your paint, I would suggest the 110% cotton flannel, however, it is only to be used indoors.
