Cant seem to get these VIN Decoders to work...

Im getting ready to sell my car and I type in the serial number on the title and the error message I get back says it has to be 17 numbers. This is great except I don't have 17 in the title...... can someone help? I found one website that told me what I already knew, which is, I have a 69 olds 98 convertible. But I want to see all the options on the car so I can list it properly..

The 17 character VIN is for newer cars. Check out this one

BTW, the VIN does not give options on the car. For that you need a build sheet which Lansing was **** about removing before the car left production, or an original bill of sale. The cowl tag may provide some, but not a lot. Unfortunately this is the sad fate most owners of 68+ model,years face.

VINs went to 17 characters with the 1981 model year. Older cars have VINs with fewer characters and possibly differing formats. In your case:

3 = Oldsmobile division
84 = Ninety Eight
67 = Convertible
9 = 1969 model year
M = Lansing, MI assembly plant
319855 = sequential build number

just add 4 X's at end of vin number, see if that will work, some sites it will , some it will not.
