Canadian Build sheet..

Has anyone found a build sheet in a Canadian built car? If yes, are they in the usual spots? All I have ever found are the interior codes...

I found one in a 1969 Cutlass under the front seat hog ringed. It was thin paper not the thicker paper used on broadcast cards. It had all the option codes typed in a row without the boxes found on broadcast cards.

Hope this helps a bit

Here is the Pic Tom is trying to post.

Not sure about all the codes listed here; this sheet was likely from the Fisher Body Works. It's the first of it's kind that I've ever seen.

596494 - might be the body number on the cowl tag
A31 - Power windows
A51 - Strato Bucket seats
A82 - Head restraint (bucket seat)
C08 - Vinyl Top
D55 - Center console
J50 - Power brakes (drum)
M38 - TH350 THM transmission
N40 - Non variable Power Steering
P01 - 14" wheel discs
P26 - Whitewall tires
U63 - Deluxe Radio (AM only)
W84 - Additional Fuel for Delivery
Z49 - Mandatory Cnadian Base Equipment Modifications
Top 2E - Black vinyl upper

Tom, I didn't do any research on your car's background, but the fact that it has Z49 in the codes means that you can get more information from in from Vintage Vehicle Services I got this service for my car and am very happy with the documents received. It is only available for cars that were manufactured in or destined for sale in the Canadian market.

1967 Cutlass Supreme...

Is this a Build sheet or for interior codes?...I found it under the front seat.As Allan said, I would say it is from Fisher...It looks similar to Tom's sheet.

Allan,
My 1969 Cutlass did not have power windows or a black vinyl top so maybe this was misplaced and meant for another car? I have sold the car but yes it was built in Oshawa and sold new in Victoria B.C. I do have GM of Canada documentation on both my W31 and W30 which were both sold new in Canada (Calgary and Kitimat B.C. Respectively.)

Ted, I don't think it's just for interior codes. Some of the items on your find indicate vinyl roof, super turbine jetaway trans, dual exhaust to name a few.

In 1967 Olds didn't have broadcast cards so I'm not really sure exactly what that paper is. What I find intriguing is that Tom has one almost identical to yours for a 1969 Cutlass. I'm wondering if that kind of information sheet might be the unofficial broadcast card used by Oshawa production?

Ah, you posted just before I did. I'm not in a position to determine what car it was from or how it got into that Cutlass. Now if Ted's car is also from Oshawa, there might be some consistency to the information flow being for a Canadian factory? At this point in time, I really can't speculate on what it is other than a piece of provenance related to a specific car.

Ted, any chance you could check that 67 cowl and verify if the body number is 304067?

Thanks Ted, for some reason I'm not getting email notifications from the site. That body number matches from cowl to printed sheet so I think it's likely one of several Oshawa Broadcast cards. It was hard to read the 3 and I thought it was 7.

I noted that it shows TOP27 on the cowl which also matches the T#27 on the sheet. Don't know what the 9 is for Paint, but PP suggests Pewter colored vinyl and lower matching paint. I can only surmise this because the sheet shows C08 which is a vinyl roof. The 970 trim would be black themed buckets with black piping.

I'm surprised at how low the VIN is since it was produced in Feb of 67.

I found another one of these sheets for a 66 Delta 88 from Oshawa
oldscodes.jpg

The owner of the car says
The documentation made no mention of the tach or lighting options, it also didn't mention the power vent windows. Code A38 is mentioned on both the cowl tag and the build sheet I found in one of the bucket seat backs, anyone know what that option is? My build sheet also doesn't have the power window options listed or the auto tranny......
which suggests to me there were 'other' sheets at different stages of the build?

BTW, what are the chances of finding ANOTHER Oshawa car (even though it's a year apart from yours) with a body number within 5 of your CS?

...and this would be an example of the "other sheets" Allan referred to as maybe existing?
Allan, finding a car whose body number is so close is almost impossible...right?

I don't know Ted. Last year I noted that another members 72 Cutlass S was built within a day or 2 of mine. The body numbers were really quite close. I like mine better though because the first 3 digits are 442 - no kidding! I know that means nothing but I thought it was cool since I probably will clone my car into a W29 one day

I thought it was an incredible coincidence to find that Delta 88 with a body number within 5 of your CS though, regardless of years
