Yup, we now have an all time record 13 Gold medals and 25 in all. This is the best standing Canada has ever had in the Olympics. Tommorrow it's gonna be 14 Golds becuz (sorry all u buds in the US) Team Canada is gonna be Gold medal winners over Team USA in mens hockey.

Anyway all the rivalry aside, it is just awesome to see the efforts these athletes put forward on behalf of their respective countries. I know it was Canada's goal to "Own the Podium" but everyone who stood on it deserves to bask in the glow of the medal color they won. Congratulations to all!

Man, I can hardly wait for 2014.

Technically, I guess since it's located in Vancouver BC. Don't know if we own it or RONA owns it I don't think the bill for these Olympics will be figured out for some time after it's over. Then, technically since we own all the hardware and stuff I guess it will also be ours to pay for , but also enjoy for years to come.

I think the term Own the Podium was related to having the most number of Gold medals, and in that respect we do OWN it, no contest.

Amateur doesn't actually exist any longer. Countries like China pay their athletes great salaries to train & compete.

 

It has not been "Amateur" for longer than I can remember.
The USSR sent pro teams over time after time .
For warm-ups in the weeks before the Olympics, they would routinely beat up on NHL teams .
The last time an "amateur" team won was 1980.
But, that being said, the Canadian team was/is the better team (but we did out score them, lol, and it is tied 1 game to 1).
Only kidding ,you did win when it counts, I did not even think it would be as close as it was.

 

A 1-goal hockey game between Canada and USA... and for the gold. Made it all worth the while. Just the way I like it. Much better and more exciting than an obvious 5-2 type win IMO.
