Can someone help decode my protectoplate please

Can someone help decode my protectoplate please

I just want to find out what it means.
The numbers are as follows:
23-870
05-23-72
3G69K2Z114338 - I believe this is the VIN would also like to know what this says about the car too
00171

any help much appreciated sorry have never had any dealings with doing or looking for this stuff before.

Welcome to the site Shaun.

23-870 is the dealer code. In this case the 23 is San Fransisco CA. 870 would be the dealers unique number.

5-23-72 well, thats probably when it was sold or at least the card was stamped on that day.

3 means olds
G is cutlass
69 is body style I can only assume this is a four door or wagon I DON"T KNOW For sure.
K 350 olds engine
2- 1972
Z the car was assembled in Fremont CA.
the last six numbers are unique to your car, its the serial number basically.

00171 is the milege of the car when sold/when the card was stamped.

I retrieved all this from one google search as its source.

Thank you very much. I did a couple searches but had no idea what i was looking at to be honest.
Yep the car is a 4 door thank you for the help

thanks not a super huge fan of the rims but they will do for now the 22's just aren't the best on our roads having so many turns and corners they often touch on the trim around the wheel arches
