can anyone identify/give history on these valve covers

Offhand, I'd say that they were Edelbrock finned aluminum valve covers for a second gen Olds V8.

Seriously, they are simply aftermarket covers, now out of production, and cast as the same foundry as these:

Joe, your absolutely correct, but Edelbrock made covers for that period with a different cast and casting number. Those are the only set I have seen that had the Holley/M/T cast and casting number with the Edelbrock logo. I cannot find any info or even a picture of them elsewhere

I am debating that. If they were it would not be cheap. I've restored over 100 olds covers this year and never seen these and in such condition

That's cool that you got the old box with them. I purchased a set of these in about 1983 and the parts store that had them told me they'd been hanging on the wall for years.

The only difference I see is the M/T and the HARDIN MARINE cast in the area where they have the Edelbrock name. I have seen many sets of all of the variations, including Offenhouser. They are really hard to find.
