Calling all AZ olds guys!

Hey guys!

I have been a long time lurker on the forum as you can see by my whopping 19 posts . I hope to get more involved and just wanted to see if we could get a thread going for the AZ guys. Anyone part of the Oldsmobile Club of Arizona or involved in the local scene? I read through Coltonis' thread tonight and I think I will put a similar one together on my ride soon. I don't know if I have quite as many pics or quips as he does, but hopefully it will benefit someone. Well that is all I got for now, hope to hear from ya all soon!

Hellp, I know they meet on Saturdays at the Scottsdale Pavillion. I'm not part of the club at this point but may join in the fututre. Check their website out Azoldsclub.com

Thanks man, I will check it out. My ride isn't in any shape to be under its own power but I hope to join once it is! Looks like you and I aren't too far apart! I live about 15 miles south of Lake Pleasant.

It would be great for some of the 'Westside' Olds guys to get connected and swap stories, resources and the like. There's a few cruise in nights on this end of town and the GCC swap meet each month. Anyone else interested here? I'm open to suggestions.

I used to do the power parking before I sold my last 72 Cutlass and now i'm starting all the way over again. I'm nowhere close to being able to drive, i just pulled the 350 combo and i'm finally going with 455/ 400 because this is my keeper. I think there still gathering at the KMart/ Chuck E Cheese on Bell & 67th i think. I'm right by the QT on Olive & Aqua Fria or 115th ave. by the how is the swap meet GCC, i seem to never make it.

There are two groups running the swap meets at GCC. The 'Just Sell It' guy is in there every month except two. That's when the college has a car club host better swap meets to benefit automotive scholarships at the college.

I've heard about the 67th & Bell cruise in but haven't been up there yet. I usually hit the group parked at 35th and Northern, next to the taco stand.

My '71 SX 455 is a keeper too, just going slow right now. I'll post to this thread next time I hit one of the local meets.

I'd be down with that even though my ride isn't driveable at the moment . When is the swap meet @ GCC? Never knew about it!

I've been to the cruise in on Northern last summer and there was a good crowd with plenty of nice cars. The cruise in on Bell is about 4x's that size with a raffle and live DJ, this power parking is getting serious. The Scottsdale Pavillion cruise in is about 4x's bigger than the Bell cruise in, plus its close to the new Casino

The group on Northern gets together early Friday evenings, and I think the Bell & 67th group meets on Saturday nights. Next swap meet at GCC is Sunday, June 5th in the school's north parking lot. Admission is free, but get there early to beat the heat.

Thanks for the info guys! I'll have to pop by the next swap meet and will pop by the cruise night sometime. Let me know when you are going to and we'll try and meet up.

Not a whole lotta Olds love on the Wessssside, especially for us guys that are deep into a project, and unable to "power park" I guess I could power trailer if need be.

Thanks!

I'm Almost Begging... lol

Hi AZ Olds fans... I like the idea of you getting together to hang out, etc. Maybe, after you meet each other, you'll trade your secret Olds parts locations?
I also like the idea the you might find it in your hearts to give us guys (in the East) a heads-up to available parts.
The reason I ask is because I happen to have a '67 Delta 88 Custom and need one piece of exterior trim to make my car complete.
I hope that you are not holding out on us! I sure would like you to cut us some slack and cough up this part.
I promiss that I'll leave you alone, after I get my right side wheel well molding.

BTW... Olds guys hiding out in Bakersfield, CA... I hope you read this too!

Jaybird

Jaybird, the only yard I know of that still has the older stuff is
www.dvapautoparts.com You may have seen their TV show, Desert Car Kings. Some folks don't care for their attitude, but my dealings with them have been pretty straight forward. If anything, they do know the value of their parts. I priced some grills up there, and they were the same as what I would have paid on EBAY. The advantage was there were no surprises with the parts I bought, and I had all the associated hardware. Not all the cars are old wrecked AZ cars either, but they make a point of stocking older cars from around the west.

@ Mr442, what year and body style are you looking for. I know of a couple on the Westside that have been parked for over a year. They look like original owner cars.

I found a 1970 442 W-30! It is in great shape and the engine is being rebuilt as we speak. I found it up at the Scottsdale Pavillions.

The Scottsdale Pavillions car show is this Saturday evening, the 25th. The Olds club meets at 5pm, but not sure if that's in the parking lot or at the Rock & Roll McDonalds. I'm planning to check it out this weekend, let's hope they meet inside. The next GCC Swap Meet is Sunday, July 10th in the college's north parking lot.
