California lunacy

I was shopping online at ROCKAUTO taking advantage of the closeout sales. I had about 20 items in my cart but when I put in my zip code for California it dumped 1/2 the cart with attached message. Now these items weren't chemicals, they were hard parts like gaskets, suspension, hoses. I couldn't believe it, this state is pushing sane people out in record numbers.

Part # K27156 cannot ship to California because we do not have documentation required by Proposition 65 from MAHLE / CLEVITE. Please choose a different brand.

That's nuts. But it's a business decision. The cost for the documentation, and required testing, must exceed expected profit.

Don't know exactly where in SoCal you are, but I'm seeing a road trip to Arizona in your future.

No offense to you, but anybody left in that state with any amount of common sense needs their head examined. It is definitely past the tipping point.

Gotta wonder about the EV companies hazardous / cancer causing materials declarations to the state of CA. Those must be lengthy documents, but I guess CA is OK with it just as long as the company provides the paperwork.

From personal experience, I can tell you that just about anything is fine with CA if you paper the right bureaucrats.

That is UN-American. We all know grift and graft will be the undoing of this once great nation. Every third world craphole has bribery as a feature of their system. Here is a list of the 20 top companies leaving CA. Why wouldn't you? I lived my whole life in Chicago. The way of greed and graft is paramount.

You misunderstand me. These bureaucrats require no graft except multiple government forms carefully filled out and submitted in quintuplicate, after (of course) retaining the canary copy. This is very American.

I have never bribed any public official.

I never inferred you did bribe anyone. I was implying that anything needing to be done in these United States gets done faster with the right amount of green grease. The fact you need to fill out a form in triplicate or more and submit it to a pencil pusher that knows little if anything about the subject is abjectly Anti-American. It was not always this way. You know it, I know it, everybody knows it.

I went to the US Army National Training Center years ago at Ft. Irwin near Barstow, CA. I stopped by a hot rod shop near Victorville and asked the owner how he got around the crazy laws in CA. He said most of his classic vehicles and the ones he worked on were titled in Nevada.
