CAF Show - a few more photos
CAF Air & Car show
Thanks to Eric, I finally got my pictures to upload. Last Saturday, I went to an air show put on by the Commerative Air Force that included a car show. Old planes, old cars and old guys. Other than being 100 degrees, it was a really neat show. The attached photos are right in front of one of two B-24's that are in flying condition. I paid $15 to be able to get out on the tarmac and get these pictures taken by my daughter. She took over 200 pictures but I promise I won't post all of them. I think the first one is my favorite. And then there is one so you can see how much fun the old gray haired guy is having and how sunburned he got (forgot the sunscreen). I have added a couple more pictures and will probably do one more post.

CAF Show - a few more photos
Here are a few more. The first has a Twin Beech Model 18 which is the same age as the car and perfectly restored and a P-40 Warhawk. The second is the P-40 and a Stearman.

I agree with you about your favorite picture of the group. I noticed that plane flying overhead last year, actually I heard it first and saw it second. Those radial reciprocating engines have a very distinctive sound.
It was pretty cool standing near the wingtip of the B-24 when he cranked all the engines and taxied out. It make a little propwash. I believe there were more B-24's built than any other bomber during WWII. Henry Ford really cranked those things out of the Willow Run plant. There are some interesting articles about that out on the internet. And now there are only two flying. I get goosebumps when those things crank up.
You mentioned the propwash. I remember my early years in the Navy in the training squadron VP-31. One of the running jokes to pull on a newbie was to ask them to retrieve a bucket of propwash.
Oh yeh, a bucket of prop wash and a skyhook.

Looks like a beautiful venue, we have one similar in Grants Pass Oregon with the river running through it with shade and green grass everywhere combined with a super cruse that the whole town participates in.I missed that one this year but I think of it often. Wish I could make it it would be quite a pair to have together ....Tedd
