A/c oil

Guys,
How much pac oil does a new a/c compressor need. I don't have a label under the hood that should show it. I have read other places that it's 10.5 oz and another place it's 19oz. the car is a 1971 cutlass 350/350 putting a new comp. from rock auto with r134

please help

Thanks

Pag oil maybe?
I just read this the other day. I'm pretty sure, for just a compressor replacement, it's 6 ounces.
A little more background might be helpful. Was the system converted to 134a? Has it been leaking refrigerant or oil? There are very specific procedures to follow in the CSM.

You'll need to flush the system. I flushed mine with brake fluid. And I had my evaporator pressure tested by a radiator shop. I had a helluva time finding the high-side service port adapter and the one I ended up with I'm not sure works. Maybe this will help...

I always used the RULE 4oz for a dry compressor and 2oz for every part you replace, Worked for me for 50 years servicing ACs. Good luck

Couldn't it depend on the compressor as well?

Only the A 6 comp has a oil sump even then OIL circulates through the system all the time, More oil needed for R4 comp. but a 71 should have A6 .
