I like this idea. I actually had paid for the Thursday night welcome buffet already, and was going to blow that off for the CO dinner. An alternative that would allow both would be great.

If anyone wants to drop out, I have no problem with that, please let me know, so I can adjust the numbers. I would not have a problem attending a press the flesh meeting also.

Both sound good to me. Any opportunity to meet a few people from the C.O forum would be great.

I'm trying to find a meeting place/room and was thinking, anybody have any ideas about what day and time to meet up. Again,I'm not trying to rain on the dinner, just trying to give those who may not be able to make the dinner another opportunity to meet everybody.

Mike, how about Friday afternoon at 4:00PM at the Courtyard Lounge in the host hotel? They open at three, should not interfere with any dinner plans, and may catch some COers who do not arrive till Friday and could not make the dinner. I believe the judging should be over by then - time to tip a few brews (?)!

We didn't want to see you anyway Dad. Why you leaving so early? I know you're not signing autographs then.

Joe,that sounds good to me but if we could move it up to say 2 or 3 that might help the ones going to the races. That should be after judging is complete.I was hoping to see if they had a hospitality room that we might could use. Whatever works is good for me.

Mike - how about 2:30? The bar actually opens at three. I'll call the hotel and see if they might open it up a little early for us.

Let's make it @ 3 and that way we don't have to make any different plans with them. If that's OK,pass the word around.

Mike, I called the hotel earlier today about opening at 2:30. Someone is going to call back tomorrow and confirm whether they will, but the guy said it may be a moot point since they may be opening all services for extended hours due to being sold out. So three it is, but I might be warming a bar stool a little earlier!

I always have the goods covered! I think we may shut down during the hot part of the day and open up again when it starts cooling off.

We went to dinner in Cincy & had a good time. Last year I had food poisoning & decided not to share my misery! We already paid for the buffet this year, but will be at the bar Friday.

I will also attend the second meeting! As soon as I and boy complete judging!

The boy can't sit at the bar (16) I will send him to look at the swap meet or we may sit at a table.

I will be at the Nats with my family, and still working out all the days. I will try to stop by on Fri to at least say Hi.
Will be at the Bristol track tour and dinner on Wed with my Alero Final 500 as well if anybody else doing that.

Last night may not have been an as ideal setup as it was in previous years ( as I understand it, -this is the first one I have gone to and the first Nationals in about 25 years) but my wife and I enjoyed our table.

I want to thank Pat for his efforts, I appreciate the difficulty in trying to find a place in an area you are not familiar with.

We will stop by this afternoon as well looking forward to meeting more CO'ers

I'll echo this comment. Had a great time but the setup wasn't really conducive to meeting everyone. The Friday session will likely be better for that. Unfortunately I won't make it due to a family issue. Hope everyone has a great time.

My apologies to everyone who made it!!! We had great food, but as said it was not the setup we needed. It will not happen again!

FYI I can't not make next years meeting in New Mexico, do to grass skirt judging in Hawaii (Maui) But, I will head up the next one in Gettysburg if allowed to?

Throwing around some ideas, like commandeering at meeting room at the host hotel after OCA uses it? I have my connections at OCA for this.

Possible tailgater with just Pizza or maybe a possible cookout or pot luck?

Pat

Glad I had chance to meet everyone this afternoon. It was a great 1st trip to the OCA nats. I also appreciate Cincinnati Rick picking up the tab for my beverage. I went with a carbonated beverage vs. a frosty one as I had to drive home but it was still nice & cold on a hot day

A big thanks to Joe Munoz for picking up the round of drinks at the bar meeting. Sorry, I could not thank you in person! We could not get server to stop at the table for an order. I and the boy, had to get something to eat.

Thanks for putting the Cheddars thing together, Pat. I really liked it a lot and felt that the layout allowed for more in depth conversation that we probably wouldn't have had otherwise. So I viewed that as a big plus.

Well the Cheddars was NOT the best place for what we did last year, which we had some privacy. Pat did his best , however we do need a private room. I was there with my friend and he even said "how is this going to work"? We got there at 6:30 to eat as I should not eat after 6:30 PM (according to my VA doctor). We went to where everyone was at and they were still eating/getting serviced at 8:30 PM! I left and felt very bad because I was committed to talk about my "Olds Lansing Assembly experience and answer questions".

Pat you did what you could and it is OK.

We need a meeting room and everyone who wants to attend can go where they want to eat and arrive where we have "the get together" say at 7:30 PM. We should work with the OCA and get them to help us with securing a room at the host hotel, which Pat could be the coordinator.

Just my 2 cents.

BTW: I am 71 going on 72 and do not know how long I am going to be on this planet! I do want to share my vast experience with my time with Olds with you 'all!

Sorry - the swapmeet and races kept me from checking in on either of these events. was very happy to meet those of you who stopped by my swapmeet booth and said hello . Met quite a few new members as well as many FB friwnds too. Thanks to Pat for his efforts to get us together. Will see you all in Gettysburg and count me in there. Will not be going to NM .
Thanks also to Patton Glade for his help too.
Thanks

It was nice to meet many of you on Fri - JHARSH, COSTPENN, 66-3X2 442 , HAIRY OLDS and Cincinnati Rick (and Mrs) among others. And congrats on 66-3X2 442 win - those radials did not cost you! Beautiful 66, and 64 ! Hope everybody had safe travels back and see everyone maybe in NM, but definitely will be in Gettysburg as real close for me. I will plan to bring the 442, and the Alero, to that one.

We were at Cheddar's but I felt a little awkward asking strangers if they were with the CO group. I'm sure I missed out on meeting some of you guys but Friday's get together made up for it a little. The only bummer about Friday's gig was it wasn't long enough. I really was enjoying talking to everyone and could have hung out all evening.

Thanks for the kind words. I also got the Senior Preservation Award for the 66 442. The Senior Award means the car scored over 990 points and from this point,it does not compete against any more cars. It only has to score 900 points or better to maintain the Senior Preservation Award
